Dry Hair and tips for its care!

Dry hair can happen to anyone but as a parent it is hard to see your kiddo with dry, breaking ends.

Plus dry brittle hair is harder to brush or style. So here are some routine changing tips to help you out!

  • First, make sure you are using explicitly kid made hair products.
    • Kid’s hair needs a different pH balance which is much different than the adult products. If you use an adult product on a kiddos hair it can be stripping the natural oils on your child’s hair, which in turn dries it out.
  • Next try not to wash your child’s hair every night (unless necessary).
    • The American Academy of Dermatologists recommends washing hair on children ages 6-11 only twice a week but more when needed.
  • Then, after you have washed your kiddos hair, use a good kid friendly detangler.
    • This will help to coat the hair shaft and make brushing MUCH easier.
  • Finally, get yourself a WetBrush.
    • WetBrushes glide through the hair and don’t cause more breakage…. plus, once you use a WetBrush on a kiddo that doesn’t like having their hair brushed, you will fall in LOVE with it!
If you follow these simple tips, you should find dry hair becomes less of an issue. As always, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to us, and we will do our best to help!
